Flow is a generalized variable whose product with effort is power. Flow variables are current in electrical systems, velocity in mechanical translation systems, angular velocity in mechanical rotation systems, volume flow rate in hydraulic or pneumatic systems, thermal flow in thermodynamic systems, molar flow in chemical systems.
