Ultrasonic joining (U-Joining/USJ) is a new direct assembly technique developed by Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht that uses ultrasonic energy to join fiber-reinforced thermoplastics to surface-structured metallic parts produced by metal injection molding.
